KIWENGWA BEACH

THE BEST WING & KITE SPOT ON ZANZIBAR

Duotone Pro Center Zanzibar is located on the east coast of Zanzibar with constant onshore winds with an average wind speed of around 15 knots and average water and air temperature of 27 degrees. There are two prevailing trade winds the "Kaskazi", from the northeast between December and March and the "Kusi", from the southeast between July and September.

The tidal patterns in Zanzibar can be intense, shifting every six hours. However, the deep water channels near our kite school ensure that you'll always have access to water, even during low tide. The average water temperature is a comfortable 27°C, rising to 29°C in February, so there's no need for a wetsuit—just pure enjoyment in warm, tropical waters.

Kiwengwa's lagoon offers perfect conditions for all skill levels, with a mix of shallow and deep water that caters to beginners and intermediates alike. While the beach may narrow and the water might get choppy at high tide, the majority of the time, you'll find flat water thanks to the protective outer reef. During full moon the light from the moon makes it possible to kite late into the night. For the professional riders, the natural lagoon reef offers fun wave conditions.

WHY CHOOSE KIWENGWA OVER PAJE?

Kiwengwa offers several unique advantages that make it an excellent choice for kitesurfing and wing foiling, especially when compared to the more famous spot of Paje. One of the standout features of Kiwengwa is its deep water channels adjacent to the sandbanks, which ensure uninterrupted riding even during low tide. This is a rarity in Zanzibar, as many spots, including Paje, can become less accessible when the tide is out. At Kiwengwa, you can enjoy consistent water conditions, making it ideal for both kitesurfing and foiling at any time of the day.

Another reason to choose Kiwengwa is its status as an insider's tip. Unlike the crowded waters of Paje, Kiwengwa offers plenty of space to ride, with fewer kitesurfers and wing foilers sharing the spot. This allows for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience, whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned rider.
